The leaves of Swiss Chard are not only visually reminiscent of spinach. They also taste similar to the smaller leafy vegetable, but more intense and slightly more bitter. The flavour of the leaves is slightly acidic and spicy. The fresh stalks are milder and can have a slightly earthy flavour. The plant contains an exceptionally high amount of vitamin K, vitamin A and vitamin E, as well as sodium, magnesium, potassium and iron.
